6 DAYS SURVIVAL & HOMESTAY TREKKING TOUR

The main attraction site in Luang Namtha is the Namha National Protected Area (NPA), which was established in 1993. The area covers 222,400 square hectares. Inside NPA are much variety of biologically, wildlife and different ethnic groups. Namha area is the main population on Eco-tourism development in Luang Namtha, Laos. Therefore Ethnic Travel Company (ETC) gives important to encourage remote villager.

Trip Overview

It’s your time to adventure! 6 days walking in primary forest. Overnight in Nam khouy village homestay (Lahou tribe), Survival Camp, Khmu Homestay and Lanten homestay  Truly experience the nature and local culture. Local guides will share information about the ecology and culture. Time will be taken to explore ethnic villages. We will learn about traditional crafts and engage with locals.

8:30 am: Make sure you arrive at our office to prepare for your trekking

9:00 am: Meeting with your guide and departure from the office by Tuk-Tuk

DAY 1: The office – Ban Prang village

We depart from Luang Namtha at 8:30 am and drive for 55 minutes southern wards to Ban Prang (Khmu village) where we pick up a village guide, who is very familiar with the area. You will then head off to the primary forest. 3 hrs walking in the dense jungle, including rest stops and a lunch break.

After the lunch break we have to see many salt lick points where wildlife comes to lick the salt you take this chance take it slow and easy to enjoy the surrounding wilderness. Following a steep descent, we arrive either at Ban Namkhouy or the Lahou tribe. This village lives on top of a mountain peak, a perfect place to admire sunset. Once in the village and enjoy to prepare a dinner with local people style. After dinner we have time to explore the villager fammily and meet some of the local people who come from the farms. We may have some interaction with them in the evening or relax in the comfort of the wooden hut.

DAY 2: Ban Namkhouy village – Ban Prang village – Ban Khouasong village

We wake up early today in the sound of many jungle birds to see the sunrise in the morning. After breakfast in the village, we enjoy a relatively gentle walk along deep in the Khmu farm, once more, getting into the forest around 3 hrs to have lunch break and then walking continues to along the hill down and through the farm, trek for a few hours until we reach the hilltop where you will witness spectacular views and we we take the rest before we walk 2 hrs to the Tuk-Tuk and transfer back to the town around 16:00 pm.

Day 3 : Survival camp

First day you'll trek on steep terrain in the Nam Ha National protected area. You will pass through villages and beautiful nature. Your village guide will teach you the practice of how to build your own camp for the night and how to cook steaming rice in bamboo cylinders for dinner. And after dinner we have Lao whisky to enjoy together around campfire.Fall asleep with the sounds of the forest (wild animals and the water stream around your camp).

DAY 4: Khamu Homestay

7:30 am: Enjoy a delicious breakfast

9:00 am: After breakfast you will trek to primary forests

Second day you'll continue trekking through the Nam Ha national park for a total of around 7 hours. Your local guide will teach you all about the poisonous and edible plants and local herbal medicines. You'll trek to Khamu village of Ban Nalan where there are only 40 families living together, Near the Namha river where you can swimming and they have a amazing views point . Sleep in a families home. If you are not too tired you can lern local cooking class with the family and  we recommend you to walk around the village while your host is preparing your dinner.. Later on you will enjoy a dinner and Lao whisky with the village chief who will give you about their history and customs, and then go to bed

DAY 5: Namkoy Lanten Homestay

7.00 am: Your are woken up by your guide and if you are not to tired we recommend you to walk around the village and next day morning after breakfast the villager they come to dancing khamu culture show.

Fifth  day you'll trek on steep terrain in the Nam Ha National protected area. at noon your guides will serve you lunch, after lunch walk down stream for 3 hrs arriving Ban Namkoy village (Lanten tribe).

Tonight we spend the night in a lanten tribe minority village, and overnight with villager home stay.And you take this opportunities to visit a local village school where you can observe the village children learning. Feel free to donate school books, pens, pencils etc… to school.

DAY 6: Final Day End in Namlue village

Your final day will be trekking further through the Nam Ha National Protected Area. There is steep up and downhill walking. You'll have picnic lunch in the jungle before walking through the jungle and see amazing view point of Luangnamtha town  and Plenty of time will be taken each day to explore nature and diverse villages before returning to Luang Namtha.

The final descent goes past mountain rice fields and cultivated areas of the mixed Lanten and Khamu village of Ban Nam Lue, which place Tuk-Tuk waiting.

DAY 1: The office – Ban Prang village

We depart Luang Namtha at 8:30 a.m. and drive 55 minutes south to Ban Prang (Khmu village), where we'll meet our local guide, who's familiar with the area. Then, we'll head into the rainforest for a three-hour trek through the dense forest, including a rest stop and lunch in the forest.

After lunch, we'll visit several salt-licking spots, where wild animals lick the salt. We'll try our luck by taking a leisurely stroll and enjoying the surrounding nature. After a steep downhill, we'll arrive at Ban Nam Khoiy, also known as Ban Lahu. This village, perched on a hilltop, is a great place to watch the sunset. Upon arrival, we'll enjoy preparing a traditional dinner. After dinner, we'll have time to explore the village families and meet with the locals who have come from the farms. We might chat with them in the evening or relax in a cozy wooden cabin.

DAY 2: Ban Namkhoiy village – Ban Prang village – Ban Khouasoung village

Today we wake up early to the sounds of various birds in the forest to watch the sunrise. After breakfast in the village, we will take another leisurely stroll along the Khmu farm. It takes about 3 hours into the forest, stopping for lunch, then continuing down the hill and past the farm. Trek for a few more hours to the top of the mountain, where you will be treated to stunning views and a chance to rest before heading to the village and spend overnight with Khmu homestay and learn their culture and traditional.

Day 3 : Survival camp

On day three, you'll trek along steep trails in Nam Ha National Park, passing through villages and beautiful nature. Your village guide will teach you how to set up camp and how to cook rice in bamboo tubes for dinner. After dinner, we'll drink Lao whiskey together around the campfire, drifting off to sleep to the sounds of the forest (wildlife and the stream around the camp.

DAY 4: Khmu Homestay

7:30 am: Enjoy a delicious breakfast

9:00 am: After breakfast you will trek to primary forests

On day four, you will continue your trek through Nam Ha National Park for approximately seven hours. Your local guide will teach you about poisonous and edible plants, as well as local herbal remedies. You will trek to the Khmu village of Ban Na Lan, home to just 40 families, near the Nam Ha River. You can swim and enjoy beautiful viewpoints. You will stay in a family-run lodge. If you are not too tired, you can learn to cook a local meal with the family. We also recommend taking a stroll around the village while the owner prepares dinner. Afterwards, you will enjoy dinner and Lao whisky with the village headman, who will tell you about their history and traditions. Then, it is time for bed.

DAY 5: Namkoy Lanten Homestay

7:00 AM: Your guide will wake you up. If you're not too tired, we recommend taking a walk around the village. The next morning, after breakfast, the villagers will come to watch a cultural performance of the Khamu dance.

On the fifth day, you'll trek through the steep terrain of Nam Ha National Reserve. At noon, your guide will serve you lunch. After lunch, walk along the stream for three hours to Nam Khoi Village (Lanten ethnic group).

Tonight, we'll stay overnight in a Lanten ethnic minority village and stay with the villagers at a homestay. You'll also have the opportunity to visit the village school, where you can observe the children learning. Donate textbooks, pens, pencils, etc. to the school.

DAY 6: Final Day End 

After enjoy hot tea, coffee drinking and breakfast, we take ahead paddle down Namha river. As we seeing some beautiful views of the forest are revealed before we arrive at a section of exciting rapids! Upon arriving where the Nam Ha river meets the Nam tha river, we branch off and paddle down the Nam Tha river for a while until arriving at the Khmu village of Ban Huaylerd. We will take sometimes discover the village before take Tuk-Tuk back to Luang Namtha.
