2 Days/1 Night Tour Watphou and 4000 Islands

Itinerary

DAY 1: WatPhou Temple

08:00 am: Departure from the hotel

08:45 am - 10:45 am: After a 45 min drive to UNESCO’s site, you will visit Watphou for about 2 hours. This world-famous site from Champasak province was shaped to express the Hindu vision of the relationship between nature and mankind. Using a descending axis, from the top of the mountain to the River bank, the site displays a geometric pattern of temples, shrines and waterworks. The whole represents a development ranging from the 5th to the 15th centuries, which is mainly associated with the Khmer Empire. 

10:45 am - 02:00 pm: You will then take the car for an hour to go to eat a traditional meal in Huay Mea Sang Village. After lunch, you will go to Hat Say Khoun Village to take a boat to your final destination, Donkhone Island. 

02:00 pm - 03:30 pm: You will get on a boat on your way to Donkhone. For an hour and half, you will go downstream to the 4000 islands, jewel of the Champasak province. You will discover this Amazing area filled with different sized islands. During rainy season, the Mekong river however covers a lot of the island.

DAY 2: Donkhone Island

This southernmost destination in Laos, hold the majority of the 4000 Islands’ natural and historic attraction. Over a century ago, the French tried to create a passage for their colonial empire through Indochina. This is why you can observe historic remains such as the colonial bridge 

08:00 am - 09:30 am: The first activity of the day is the Irrawaddy dolphin boat tour being less than 10 around the 4000 islands, this source water dolphin species is endangered. 

09:30 am - 10:20 am: After boat tour you will go to Liphi waterfall, which is a collection of powerful falls spilling down at different angles to join in a powerful flow. At the end of the main path, you can find a nine beach. 

10:20 am - 11:40 am: You will go to lunch at Senghaloune’s restaurant. After lunch you will take a boat from hotel back to Nakasang village to go to khonephapheng water fall. 

11:40 am - 12:55 pm: Next destination, Khonephapheng waterfall very impressive natural wonder, considered as South East Asia’s biggest waterfall. 

Fun fact: The Existence of the waterfall is the main reason why the Mekong river is not gable by ship from China downstream into the South China sea. 

01:00 pm - 03:00 pm: From Khonephapheng you will take the car back to pakse
