Luang Namtha Things To Do
Luang Namtha Province is tucked into the north-western corner of Lao PDR. It covers an area of 9,325 square kilometers, with 85% of that terrain being low calciferous mountains, rising between 800-2,000 meters. There are plenty of things to do in the area, such as trekking, cycling, truly getting to know the community with a homestay.
Weather, like the rest of the country, is characterized by a rainy season from May to September. In contrast, from October to February, Luang Namtha experiences a cool dry period. Finally, March, April are the hottest months. On average daily temperature is a please 25 degrees Celsius. During the cool season, though, it can dip to zero on the coldest nights.
The province is divided into 5 districts. Luang Namtha includes the capital and environs and is the gateway to travels in the province. Muang Sing, Muang Long are located to the north-west of the capital, Vieng Phouka to the south-west, and Nalae in the south.
Trekking Namha national park
It is indeed a great selection of different activities in the Northern Laos for all family. First of all, you can trek inside the National Protected Area (NPA). You can also walk through the jungle with an experienced guide. He will tell you all about plants and trees collected from the jungle, and how you can use them. You will visit villages with a local guide and explore the wildlife of Nam ha Riverbank by kayak.
Kayaking

Namdee waterfall
About 20 minutes out of Luang Namtha town is a pretty waterfall named NamDee, meaning Good Water. It’s a popular place to visit because it’s so close to town yet so far away. Once there, you feel like you are a million miles from any kind of modern conveniences. It’s just nature, beauty, and you.
Luang Namtha Morning market
Most of all, visiting Luang Namtha’s morning market is one of the best ways to get a glimpse of Lao local life. People from Luang Namtha and nearby villages come here to buy their fruits and vegetables, new clothes or tools like machetes. People from villages near the jungle come here as well to sell jungle meat and edible plants that they’ve foraged from the jungle.
Directly behind the parking lot, you will find Lao women sitting on little stools next to a mat on which they’ve displayed their produce. Here you will find bananas, spring onion, coriander, cabbages, and other local vegetables, fruits and herbs. Most importantly, don’t forget to have a look at the local delicacies, like these fried silkworms!
