Trip Overview

It’s your time to adventure! Embark on a 2 days trek and cultural experience. Truly experience the Lanten culture. Go up mountains with spectacular views of Luang Namtha, and through pristine forests to an overnight stay in the home stay. Experience traditional Lanten cooking and rice whisky. Walk throuhg Hmong and Khmu agricultural area. Trained guides will share information about the ecology and culture. Time will be taken to explore ethnic villages. We will learn about traditional crafts and engage with locals.

Itinerary

DAY 1: Luangnamth city - Ban Paknamla - Ban Namla (Lantan tribe)

The trek starts at Ban Paknamla a Hmong village. Here you will meet a hunter guide, who will assist you all the way trek. Before deep in forest your guide will introduce you to the local life and customs, working together with the villagers to conserve and regenerate the forest. It takes 2 hrs to arrive the scenery of landscape, and prepare the jungle picnic lunch here. After enjoying a lunch we continue to deep inside NPA area. You will start moderate trekking to head deep into the primary forest.

Your guide will point out plants used for medicine and some places where you can wildlife spotting, the hike enjoyable and then we have to walk down and cross a small river more ten times to Namla village This is a small village where you can learn to do weaving, dyeing the cotton and do bamboo paper making, and we will spend the night with a local family. You will enjoy cooking class with organic food for your dinner. After dinner, you will receive a special Lantan Basi ceremony style that is a traditionally giving to their guests when they join their village for the night.

DAY 2: Ban Namla - Ban Phouluang - Ban Houana

Enjoy a nice cup of tea or coffee, Then you will have a breakfast First, Second step you have to try to dress Lantan cloths, Then we go uphill for a while before the terrain gets more flat. Only during the rainy season that it may be bit slippery from time to time, We continue to cross a few small and beautiful streams, We will stop and spend some time wherever we find something interesting and our experienced local guide will do the explanations. At noon, we will enjoy a Local picnic lunch with traditional Lantan food, accompanied by the music of bird songs and chirping cicadas. After lunch we walk up and down to small village on trail, which will bring us through to some Mountain rice fields with some good views, we descent down to the last minority village of Khmu tribe which the Tuk-Tuk waiting.

It’s your time to adventure! 2 days walking in primary forest. Overnight in Nam khouy village homestay (Lahou tribe). Truly experience the nature and local culture. DAY 1: The office – Ban Prang village

We depart from Luang Namtha at 8:30 am and drive for 55 minutes southern wards to Ban Prang (Khmu village) where we pick up a village guide, who is very familiar with the area. You will then head off to the primary forest. 3 hrs walking in the dense jungle, including rest stops and a lunch break.

After the lunch break we have to see many salt lick points where wildlife comes to lick the salt you take this chance take it slow and easy to enjoy the surrounding wilderness. Following a steep descent, we arrive either at Ban Namkhouy or the Lahou tribe. This village lives on top of a mountain peak, a perfect place to admire sunset. Once in the village and enjoy to prepare a dinner with local people style. After dinner we have time to explore the villager fammily and meet some of the local people who come from the farms. We may have some interaction with them in the evening or relax in the comfort of the wooden hut.

DAY 2: Ban Namkhouy village – Ban Prang village – Ban Khouasong village

We wake up early today in the sound of many jungle birds to see the sunrise in the morning. After breakfast in the village, we enjoy a relatively gentle walk along deep in the Khmu farm, once more, getting into the forest around 3 hrs to have lunch break and then walking continues to along the hill down and through the farm, trek for a few hours until we reach the hilltop where you will witness spectacular views and we we take the rest before we walk 2 hrs to the Tuk-Tuk and transfer back to the town around 16:00 pm.

DAY 1: Luang Namtha city – Ban Namlua village – Forest campsite

After 20 minutes transfer to the south direction, we will stop at Ban Namlue village, where our trek starting, first part of the trek we will walk up to the top of the mountain rising to an elevation of 600m. From a high point and short looking view point across the Namha NPA

And then walk for 2 hrs walking in the dense jungle, including rest stops and a lunch break, along the trek trail your local guides will collect wild herbs and eatable plants for picnic meal at campsite, and your guide and you will prepare the simple hut and bed for the night’s sleep.

Fall asleep in the darkness and sounds of the forest and the small stream nearby camp. If you like to go for wildlife spotting at night, this is the right place to do it. Our local guide will accompany you, Make sure to bring along a strong flashlight or head lamp.

DAY 2: Forest campsite – Ban Nanlan Neua – Ban Chalernsouk village

Wake up before the sun and enjoy the morning fresh air and listen to the animals. We re-ignite the camp fire to prepare a traditional breakfast, taking energy for the following trek over steep paths further up into the Nam Ha forest, Today we hike through dense forest, giving us a chance to hear or even see monkeys. If not, the guide will point out signs of wildlife including bears, civets and wild boars which are present in the area,

We have a break for lunch at noon and provided for us by Khmu villagers at a fantastic viewpoint with incredible vistas across the valley. Our guide will point out how far we have to walk, After lunch, we continue walk up and downhill from the mountains to Ban Chaluensouk, where tuk-tuk is waiting to bring us back to Luang Namtha.

DAY 1: Luang Namtha city- Ban Chalernsouk – Ban Nalan Neua village

Departing Luang Namtha by Tuk-tuk, we drive south to Ban Chaluensouk village, where our trek starts. There you will meet our villager guide helping us to carry some food . During the first part of the trek we will walk up to the top of the mountain, Then along the ridge line of a mountain range, until we head down through a wonderful dense green forest, at noon your guides will serve you lunch, after lunch walk down stream for 2 hrs arriving Ban nalan village (Khmu tribe).

Tonight we spend the night in a Khmu tribe minority village, and overnight with villager home stay.

And you take this opportunities to visit a local village school where you can observe the village children learning. Feel free to donate school books, pens, pencils etc… to school.

DAY 2: Ban Nalan Neua - Ban Nalan Tai – Ban Namkoy – Ban Namlue village

Begin the second morning with a pleasant walk following the Nam Ha River. Here, the forest varies from stands of large hardwoods to new growths of bamboo. The trail passes through the village of Ban Nalan Tai (South Ban Nalan) and the open cultivated areas of the Lanten village of Ban Nam Koy where you'll have lunch.

Leave the river and climbs for a couple of hours. This is the most challenging section of the trail, but also the most beautiful, as it passes through the least impacted forest of the trip. Trees up to four or five hundred years old create a dense canopy which provides a habitat for many birds. Pause quietly for a minute and listen to the forest come alive with the sounds of birds and insects.

The final descent goes past mountain rice fields and cultivated areas of the mixed Lanten and Khamu village of Ban Nam Lue, which place Tuk-Tuk waiting.

DAY 1: Luang Namtha city - Ban Chalernsouk - Ban Phouvan (Ahka tribe)

The tour starts from our office in Luang Namtha centre for 40 minutes to Khmu village named Ban Chalernsouk where children are likely to greet you with curiosity and smile, Here you will meet your village guide who will assist you. He will accompany you all the way on this trek and who will lead us through the forest trails and your guide will introduce you to the local life and customs.

And then you will wilk up and down inside  NPA forest and let enjoy the natural surroundings you and keep your ears and eyes open for birds, deer, boar, monitor lizard and monkeys. Your guide will share his knowledge for collect some eatable plant and soon we will stop for a local picnic lunch. After lunch time, we will continue to walk along small stream to see waterfalls for take a rest and refreshing bath there for a few minute, then we continue hiking up mountain until reaching the Ahka farms. You use this opportunity to working, soon you have to arrive the Ahka village, interacting of this this village have more than Hundred children, you have to enjoy a view point.  Before sunset we have to cook an organic food for your dinner. After dinner, you will receive a special Ahka massage style that is a traditionally giving to the their guests spend the night in their village.

DAY 2: Ban Phouvan (Ahka tribe) - Ban Chalernsouk - Luang Namtha city

In the morning, you can take a walk around the village to see how the Ahka people preparing to their daily activities in the fields and to see the fog that covers the Nam Ha landscape.

On this day, we will visit a local village school where you can observe the village children learning. Feel free to donate school books, pens, pencils etc. to school

After breakfast we continue to walk down through the fields of the Phouvan villager, where you can enjoy breath taking views of the Nam Ha protected area. The path continues through primary and secondary forest. After 3 hours of trekking, you will make a stop to have traditional Akha lunch in the forest together with your guides.

After lunch you will continue walking through lush primary forest. The trek will end around 4:00 pm in the Charleurnsouk village. The tuk tuk will bring you back to office in Luang Namtha.

DAY 1: Luang Namtha city – Ban Thasae village – Ban Nalan village

Driving along the road for half an hour to the Ban thasae village, the place we will start paddle, first step you have to get a brief basic instruction of double kayaking and paddling safety, we paddle down the river which meanders through the thick forests of the Nam Ha National protected area (NPA), facing some rapids and seeing the amazing wilderness of the Nam Ha National protected area,

At mid-day we stop at the riverside for a picnic lunch break and refresh swimming, After lunch  we continue awards until arriving in Ban Nalan village in the afternoon, where place to overnight,  we enjoy a delicious Lao dinner cooked over an open fire by the villagers.

DAY 2: Ban Nalan – Ban Nalan Tai – Ban Namkoy village – Ban Huay Lerd village

After enjoy hot tea, coffee drinking and breakfast, we take ahead paddle down the river. As we seeing some beautiful views of the forest are revealed before we arrive at a section of exciting rapids! Upon arriving where the Nam Ha river meets the Nam Tha river, we branch off and paddle down the Nam Tha river for a while until arriving at the Khmu village of Ban Huaylerd. We will take sometimes discover the village before take Tuk-Tuk back to Luang Namtha.

Trip Overview

Come join an adventure & challenge yourself kayaking on the Nam Tha River! We will explore colorfully dressed ethnic minorities along the river such as: Black Tai, Mien Hmong (Lanten) & Mon-Khmer (Khmu). Each group has distinct ways of life & culture, which can be experienced on our adventure. During your journey, you may be able to see diverse wildlife and paddle many exciting rapids.

To Start the day begins at the boat landing with basic paddle and equipment instruction before taking to the river in single or double kayaks.

DAY 1: Luang Namtha - Ban Sope Toud - Ban Sop Sim - Ban Huay Lert

The day begins with some basic paddling instructions and a safety briefing before we take to the river in kayaks. The Nam Tha meanders through a variety of forest types, inhabited by wildlife, including tigers, barking deer and a great variety of birds. We reach the border of the Nam Ha Protected Area at the Lanten village of Ban Sope Tud. Various sets of exciting but safe rapids lead up to a lunch break of delicious, local food served on banana leaves near the riverside

After this typical Lao picnic, there is time for relaxation and a refreshing swim. The next paddling stretch takes the group to the Khmu village of Ban Huay lert village (Khmu tribe), where the place we will overnight and enjoy your cooking class with Lao organic food.

DAY 2: Ban Huay Lert - Ban Hadyong - Ban Sinoudom- Ban Hatnaleng - Luang Namtha city

After your breakfast and a hot tea, we get back on the water and start paddling downriver around 5-6hrs. Along the river bank we have chance to stop to visit villages such as: Khmu Gaen, Khmu Lue and Laoheua. At noon, we enjoy a riverside picnic spot. We then start paddling along the stunning riverside, enjoy floating down the river, taking on rapids and beholding the amazing wilderness of the Namha National Park area. Around 3:30 pm we will arrive the Hatnaleng village, then we get back to LuangNamtha for 1:30 hrs to drive back.

We drive 30 minutes to the start trekking point, Here you will meet with your village guide who will assist you. He will accompany you all the way on this trek, You will start with moderate walking, before heading deep into the primary forest, Your guide will point out plants used for medicine and some places where you can wildlife spotting and after around 3 hours we are rewarded by wonderful NPA views of the valley.

We walk up until mountain stop for lunch time, You take this chance to learn how to cook with organic ingredients collected inside bamboo using, Then we hike onward to stream where there are a lot of big old trees and some wildlife also recorded in the area, trekking continue up a mountain about 2 hrs to village name’s Ban Chalernsouk village, where place we overnight.

DAY 2: Ban Chalernsouk – Starting point – Ban Soptoud (Lantan tribe) – Ban Huaylerd – Luang Namtha city

After enjoying breakfast, you will spend time walking around the village, what’s interacting with the locals and learning about local culture before beginning to the farm, after your breakfast and hot tea, and then we get back on the Namtha River to start paddling downriver around 5-6hrs, along the river bank we have chance to stop visit the villages as: Khmu Gaen, Khmu lue and Lantan…  at noon enjoying riverside picnic spot, We then start paddling along the stunning riverside, enjoy floating down the river, taking on rapids and beholding the amazing wilderness of the Namha National Park area, Around 3:00 Pm we will arrive the Hoylert village the place we back to Luangnamtha city for 1 hr to drive back.

We carry onwards until lunchtime where we stop to enjoy a picnic in the villagers( Ban namkoy), the place you have a chance to support an exhibition of Lantan tribe,

After lunch we walk up hill on bamboo raft and enter the Nam Ha National Protected Area. Here the trail takes us through dense jungle, if we lucky, we may even see some several animals, Afterwards, we will continue to the spectacular mountain scenery and stopping to picture, then we walk down to the village where we end our trekking and drive back to the town

Trip Overview

This day will include up to 6 hours of cycling, with lots of incredible stops. An alternative and easy way to explore the beautiful scenery of the town of Lung Namtha. Scenic views of the river bank, waterfall and visit minority villages (Hmong, Lantan, Khmu, Labed, Phounoi, Taidam and Akha) along the dirt road. Trained guides will share information about the ecology and culture.

DAY 1: Luang Namtha – LNT temple – Ban Nam Ngaen – Ban Phiengngerm – Ban Namthoung – Ban Namdee

Leave at office to the morning market to collect the fresh food for lunch before riding up to That Phoum Pouk Stupa. We continue cycling to Ban Nammat village of Akha tribe, Black Tai, and Lan Ten minorities where we will have chance to see silk production and silk weaving with natural dyes, a Lao alcohol distillery, mountain vistas, and expanses of rice paddy as well as visit a small waterfall. Our picnic lunch will be served on the way.

After lunch, we continue awards until arriving in Ban Namlue village in the afternoon, where place to overnight, we enjoy a delicious Lao dinner cooked over an open fire by the villagers.

DAY 2: Ban Namlue – Ban Soptod – Ban Sopsiep – Ban Huaylerd

After enjoying breakfast, you will spend time walking around the village, interacting with the locals and learning about local culture before beginning to the farm.

This day begins with some basic paddling instructions and a safety briefing before we take to the river in kayaks. The Nam Tha meanders through a variety of forest types, inhabited by wildlife, including tigers, barking deer and a great variety of birds. We reach the border of the Nam Ha Protected Area at the Lanten village of Ban Sope Tud. Various sets of exciting but safe rapids lead up to a lunch break of delicious, local food served on banana leaves near the riverside, at noon we have to picnic lunch.

After lunch, there is time for relaxation and a refreshing swim. The next paddling stretch takes the group to the Khmu village of Ban Huay lert. Kayaking continues through lush scenery and ends after the confluence of the Nam Ha and Nam Tha Rivers. Here, a pick-up takes us back to Luang Namtha.
